Qlik Sense Enterprise Configuration

AskSenseOps connects to Qlik Sense Enterprise to make data available for users to explore through the AskSenseOps interface. To establish the connection, provide the Qlik Sense server details, configure the required ports, and upload the certificates exported from Qlik Management Console (QMC).

Before configuring the connection, ensure that you have access to a Windows-hosted Qlik Sense server, the required certificate files, and a service user with at least App Read and Stream Read permissions.

Add a Qlik Sense Enterprise Connection

Step 1: Open Connections

  1. Sign in to AskSenseOps.
  2. Navigate to Admin, then select Connections under Data.
  3. Click Add connection to open the connection configuration panel.

Step 2: Enter the Basic Information

Under Basic Info, provide the following details:

Field Description
Connection Name Enter a name to identify the connection, such as Production Server. This field is required.
Description Enter an optional description to help users identify the connection.

Under Platform, select Qlik Sense Enterprise as the platform type.

The configuration panel displays the fields required to connect to your Qlik Sense Enterprise environment.

Step 3: Configure the Server

Under Server Configuration, enter the following details:

Field Description
Server Host Enter the hostname of your Qlik Sense Enterprise server.
Virtual Proxy Enter the virtual proxy prefix if your environment uses one. Leave this field empty for direct connections.
HTTPS Select the connection protocol. HTTPS is recommended.
HTTPS Port Enter the HTTPS port used by your Qlik Sense server. The default value is 443.
Verify TLS Certificate Enable this option to verify the server's TLS certificate.
QRS Port Enter the Qlik Repository Service port. The default value is 4242.
WS Port Enter the WebSocket port. The default value is 4747.
Proxy Port Enter the Qlik Proxy Service port. The default value is 4243.

Use the values configured for your Qlik Sense environment. If your deployment uses different ports or a virtual proxy, enter the corresponding values.

Step 4: Configure Authentication

Under Authentication, provide the service account details required to access Qlik Sense Enterprise.

Field Description
User Directory Enter the user directory associated with the Qlik Sense service account.
Service User Enter the username of the service account.

The service account must have at least App Read and Stream Read permissions to access the required applications and streams.

Step 5: Upload the Certificates

AskSenseOps requires three certificate files exported from Qlik Management Console (QMC) to establish the connection.

In QMC, navigate to Certificates and export the certificates for the service account. Upload the following files in the connection configuration panel:

Field Description
Root Upload the root certificate file.
Client Upload the client certificate file.
Client Key Upload the client private key file.

All three files are required.

Ensure that you select the correct files exported from your Qlik Sense environment before proceeding.

Step 6: Configure Hub Access

Under Hub Access, enter the following detail:

Field Description
Qlik Hub URL Enter the URL used to access your Qlik Sense Hub, for example, https://qlik.company.com.

This URL should correspond to the Qlik Sense environment you are connecting to.

Step 7: Test and Save the Connection

After completing the configuration:

  1. Review the server, authentication, certificate, and Hub Access details.
  2. Click Test Connection to verify that AskSenseOps can connect to Qlik Sense Enterprise.
  3. If the test is successful, click Save Connection to save the configuration.

If the connection test fails, review the server hostname, virtual proxy, port values, service account details, certificate files, and Hub URL. Correct any incorrect values and test the connection again.

Verify the Connection

After saving the connection:

  1. Return to Connections under Admin, in the Data section.
  2. Locate the Qlik Sense Enterprise connection you created.
  3. Check its displayed status.

An Active status indicates that the connection is available in AskSenseOps.
