Creation of User

This document provides a step-by-step guide on how to create a new user in the Code Management application. The process involves navigating through the user interface, filling out the necessary details, and saving the new user information. This guide is intended for administrators and users who have the necessary permissions to add new users to the system.

Follow the instructions below to successfully create a new user in the Code Management application.

Note

By default, an Admin user will be created.

Users can be added in two ways:

  1. Manual User Creation
  2. Configure User Sync

Manual User Creation

You can create a user manually by following these steps:

Step 1: Log in to the Code Management page, click on "Settings", then click on "Users". An admin user will already be created. Now click on "Action", and within that, click on "New User".

Step 2: Upon clicking 'New User', a panel titled "Create user" will slide in from the right. Input the essential details: Name, Email, Password (you can use an auto-generated password), User Directory, Active Directory Id (optional), and Role (select the role for the user). Click on "Create User".

  • A "User created Successfully" popup will appear, and the created user will be visible on the page.
  • Options to edit, delete, and change the password for the user will be available.

Configure User Sync

Bulk users can be added from Qlik Enterprise to Code Management using Configure User Sync.

Step 1: Go to "Settings" on the Users page, and click "Configure User Sync".

Step 2: Upon clicking 'Configure User Sync', a panel titled "Configure users sync" will slide in from the right.

  1. Source: Select the type as "Qlik sense" and corresponding servers which you created on the Server page.
  2. Field Mapping: Map the user name and email address with Qlik Sense user attributes or custom properties for SenseOps Projects.
  3. Filter User: Define custom filter conditions to fetch Qlik Sense users (optional).
  4. Assign Roles: Assign condition-based roles to users. By default, all users are assigned as Developer.
  5. Server Auth: Validate users and retrieve credentials based on Qlik Sense server access.

You can select user attributes or custom properties while adding the details.

Step 3: Save the configuration by clicking "Save". A message popup "User configuration saved successfully!" will appear. Now click on "Sync now".

Step 4: A popup will appear as shown below. Click on "Yes, Proceed".

Managing the Users

Now you can see users added from Qlik Enterprise based on the configuration.

Note

The synchronized users from Qlik Enterprise will not have the "Edit" option. Only "delete" and "reset password" options are available.

  • If you wish to change the configuration, click on the "three dots" in "Sync now". Then click "Settings", which will trigger a panel to slide in from the right. You can configure based on your requirements again.

  • To view the history of Configure Sync, click on the "three dots" in "Sync now". Then click "View Sync log".

  • A panel titled "Sync log" will slide in from the right, where you can see details like Synced date, number of Users added, number of Users modified, number of Inactive users, Status, and Action.

  • Click on the Action of a specific row to know which user is added, modified, or inactive.
