Customization Options

Combining Multiple Dimensions and Measures

Description:

The Combo Charts extension allows you to incorporate multiple dimensions and measures into a single chart. This capability is essential for detailed and multi-faceted data analysis.

Limitations:

  • With 1 to 3 dimensions, you can add up to 2 measures. The second measure can only be added to the global dimension.

  • With only 1 dimension, you can add any number of measures.

Example:

Imagine a user wanting to compare multiple aspects of product performance within a single visualization. By using "Category Name" as the dimension, the user can add "Sales" and "Cost of Sales" as bar graphs, and "Profit" and "Customer Count" as line charts. This combination allows the user to see how sales and costs impact profit while also tracking customer engagement, all in one integrated chart. This comprehensive view supports better strategic decisions by highlighting relationships and trends that might be missed in separate charts.

Video:

Please refer the video below demonstrating how to set up a Combo Chart with "Category Name" as the dimension and four measures ("Sales," "Cost of Sales," "Profit," and "Customer Count"). The video walks through the process of configuring the chart and customizing its appearance.

Axis Customization:

  • Axis Colour, Font, and Alignment Controls: Customize the appearance of axis labels and titles.

  • Axis Value Colour and Alignment Controls: Adjust the color and alignment of axis values.

  • Example: If you're creating a sales dashboard, you can use your company's brand colors for the axis labels and titles to maintain consistency across visualizations and reinforce your brand identity.

Bar and Line Customization:

  • Bar Colour, Value, and Alignment Controls: Modify the color, value, and alignment of bars.

  • Line, Marker Colour, and Alignment Controls: Change the color and alignment of lines and markers.

  • Example: A user could set different colors for bars representing different product categories in a sales performance dashboard. For instance, set the bar color for "Electronics" to blue and for "Clothing" to green. Adjust the alignment to ensure bars are uniformly spaced, making it easier to compare sales values across categories at a glance. Additionally, highlight the highest sales value bar in a different shade or with a gradient to draw attention to the top-performing category.

Legend Customization:

  • Legend Position and Alignment Controls: Set the position and alignment of the legend.

  • Legend View and Values Controls: Customize the visibility and values displayed in the legend.

Reference Lines and Dynamic Labels:

  • Reference Line Alignment Control: Add and align reference lines.

  • Measure & Dimension Reference Lines: Define reference lines based on measures and dimensions.

  • Dynamic Label & Style Control: Add dynamic labels and style them accordingly.

Enhance Interactivity:

  • Add HTML tooltips with mini-charts and filters for advanced analysis.

  • Include custom icons, illustrations, and images to enrich chart interactivity.
